Fairbanks Vacation Packages

Located in what is known as the Golden Heart of Alaska, Fairbanks is a remote river city with a charming downtown, thriving arts community and authentic Native culture.

Explore Fairbanks

Alaska’s Interior Region that surrounds Fairbanks provides a perfect backdrop for year-round adventure. With the midnight summer sun shining nearly 24 hours a day, from April to August, and the Northern Lights dancing overhead during Aurora Season, Fairbanks is bursting with attractions, spectacular events and access to the Alaskan wilderness.

The 100-mile long Chena River runs through the middle of town and is a focal point for interesting events and activities like panning for gold, mingling with reindeer or watching a rubber duckie race down the river. After the snow falls, there are cool things to see and do too like curling, sledding, snowshoeing, ice sculpting and ice fishing.

Summertime’s middle-of-the-night activities include rafting, golfing, nature walks and even baseball — the Alaska Goldpanners start their historic solstice game at 10:00 pm. The average temperature hovers at 70 degrees and the midnight sun simply refuses to set, which makes Fairbanks an ideal summer destination for families, couples and friends.

Chena River State Recreation Area is a great place to see moose or launch a canoe, kayak or raft. Or head south to Denali National Park & Preserve to take in the pristine wilderness or explore the rugged backcountry.

Fairbanks is the ideal base camp for exploring the Arctic Circle. Here, you can experience vast wilderness panoramas, tundra-laden landscapes and indigenous cultures that define this legendary circle.

Winter is a popular season for seeing the glorious Northern Lights. You can also marvel at the handwork of world-champion ice-carvers or compete in snowshoe softball, ice bowling or ski and snowboard races in Denali National Park. Challenge snowcapped hills or birch-laden trails, or mush a team of huskies across the wilderness. Visit Santa in the North Pole, or discover the incredible warmth of an Alaska hot spring at the end of an adventure-filled day.

Shopping in Fairbanks is a unique experience. It is known for its Alaska Native handmade items that are crafted with astonishing detail. Nature-inspired artwork can be found in gift shops, specialty stores and large retailers. Goldsmith’s design the finest jewelry creations and prospector clothing and footwear outlets help you fully enjoy your trip. And, what could be better than taking home gourmet food products, including smoked salmon strips, reindeer sausages and crafted coffee.

Fairbanks has great food and drink options for foodies and families alike — from dining indoors and outdoors to ordering from a food truck or drive-thru hut. It is home to two craft breweries, four distilleries and multiple coffee roasters.

Offering a wide variety of restaurants from elegant cuisine to ethnic dining to Alaskan-style home cooking, many restaurants feature local produce, meat and fish in their recipes. Try reindeer sausage or grilled Alaskan salmon alongside home-grown Yukon gold potatoes and sweet baby carrots.
