Sumanth Rao is Chief Financial Officer at Delta Vacations, a Delta Air Lines Company. In this role, Sumanth leads the company’s financial strategy. In addition, he is responsible for leading corporate finance for Delta’s customer engagement and loyalty (SkyMiles^® Program and Delta Sky Club®) teams.

Sumanth joined Delta Vacations in August 2022 after serving as Director of Finance at Delta, supporting the Airport Customer Service, Cargo, and Global Clean divisions to optimize financial resource allocation.

While at Delta, Sumanth led a team of more than 20 professionals in planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analyzing financial performance, working closely with the business unit leaders they support. Sumanth was also selected to fill a newly created expat role in London, to enhance Delta’s relationship with Virgin Atlantic and Air France-KLM.

Sumanth brings more than 14 years of knowledge and experience of airline finance and prides himself on in-depth learning about the business units he has supported in the past. He also has 10 years of experience in the automotive industry as a design and application engineer before he transitioned to a career in finance.

Sumanth has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. Sumanth enjoys international travel, reading non-fiction, and keeping score at his son’s baseball games. He is also passionate about coaching and mentoring people at various stages of their career and is energized by their success.
